2009 Honda city

The last Honda City was not exactly what enthusiasts would be seen in or rather be associated with unlike the first generation of the car which was tatally a drivers car. The previous City was a capable urban car but its odd styling and disproportionate looks did not set anyone’s pulse racing and sales never really flew off. Over the years it has seen dipping sales and Honda being the progressive carmaker that it is phased the model out and got us the all new 2009 Honda City in late December. Indimoto took the car for a spin on the streets of Central Delhi. Here’s what we have to say about Honda’s latest compact sedan. The new City has a good looking rear too with BMW 3 Series style tail lamps, a sharp boot and a chunky bumper. Build quality of the new City seems much better than the previous generation and it now has wider door sills, a stiffened chassis and doors which close with an assuring thud. Honda has however scrimped on alloy wheels on the Indian model which i think is primarily to save cost. The new City also appeared under-tyred with puny 175/65 R15s. Let’s hope Honda launches the sedan with fog lamps, a nice set of alloys and wider section tires soon. Safety is basic on the Indian model with only dual front airbags and ABS.

Hamann’s tuning program for the BMW X6 was really impressive and since BMW released a more powerful M version of the X6, the car tuners from Hamann realized a special upgrade package for the new BMW X6M which comes with styling and performance upgrades.
Under the hood, the guys from Hamann modified the standard engine to deliver an incredible power of 670 HP and a maximum torque of 850 Nm between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. The extra power was achieved by installing sport catalysts, intermediate pipe with x-venturi, a new exhaust system and by upgrading the car’s ECU.The new M-powered SUVs uses a twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 instead of the expected V10 engine, there is no shortage of power however! as it develops 555 horsepower and 700 nm of torque. The cars will be equipped with 20 inch rims and are fitted with lower stiffer suspension, so it takes no genius to say that they have lost their off-road capabilities. Not that they had great off-road capabilities, but with these specs you really cannot expect them to be like a Range Rover Sport which has managed to make a balance between tarmac and mud.

he Maruti 800 hit the market more than a decade ago, and it is still a hot favorite when it comes to fuel consumption and handling. Introduced in 1990’s, Maruti Udyog, the old name in Indian Automobile Industry was a phenomenon hit. Nothing can beat the Maruti 800 when it comes to customer satisfaction. This can be illustrated of the fact that it one the Awaaz Consumer Awards “06. It stands tall as the most preferred brand and boosting 23 lakh consumers across India. It has been more than a decade since Maruti Udyong has started producing cars in India. Over the years it has touched nearly all the automobile market segments with various models specific to the particular segment. Out of all the cars that the company has produced nothing can compare to the fame that the Maruti 800 has achieved. The car with a simple name has allured buyers from all over the continent with its highly competitive price that has made the car affordable even for low income individuals and families. A great car coupled with a genius marketing strategy has resulted in the success of the Maruti 800.

The purchasing price of the Maruti 800 is one of the biggest factors behind its success but by no means is it the only good thing about the car. Just like the low price of purchasing a car is one of the top priorities for low income families, the cost of maintenance and fuel efficiency is also a matter of concern. Understanding this concern of the public the Maruti 800 was designed in such a way that it has probably one of the lowest costs of maintenance amongst all the cars in India. As far as the fuel consumption is concerned this is one of the areas in which the car has made a good name for itself. Hence it turns out to be a complete package that is cheap to buy, cheap to maintain and cheap to run.
